Blogiversary - One Year of Me on the Blog.
It has been one big year for the blog. I can hardly believe it - over 365 days since some of you people started reading this. I guess our attention span is a little better than they. . . ooh! Cookies!
Where was I? Oh yes, so let’s quit messing around here. You’ve got other blogs to be reading while you should be doing something else. Like work - yeah, I know you guys read this when you’re supposed to be working. Granted most of you check in on Fridays, after I’m sure, a long week of hard work. I’m not complaining, I’m not the one paying you to work when you’re just sitting there reading stuff about me. Hey, look at that! I just spent more of your company’s money while you read that last sentence. We better get going. . .
If you’re interested in reading any of what I’m talking about just click on the name of the month to be taken into the archives. Here we go - Year in Review!
March
In like a lion, not quite. I didn’t get started with this blog until late in the month. But hey, humble beginnings sometimes are the start of great things. I thought it might be a good way to entertain myself, my family and maybe a few friends. It’s amazing to think that just a year ago Gitgan was just an idea, and now it’s a growing small business. More news on that front later. In March we also found Skulls in Aisle One, and Israelis killed off a Star Wars character. Not a bad start - people are dyin’ already!
April
Well, we jumped right into my childhood this month - stories of creative discipline as told by my mother to my wife. If you’ve ever enjoyed a holiday meal with the Smith family you knew exactly what I was talking about.
Aww. My first strong right wing stand on my blog. I’m feeling all nostalgic. Targeting CNN.com and their “reporting” of the news. Plus a bonus section on seeing old people doing things you’d rather not see them do.
May
A month of firsts - my first pre-election post, my first experience with BD’s Mongolian barbecue and lots of links to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. I’ve found that people don’t want to read a lot of that stuff and it’s easier to write about non-political issues so, I’m staying away from that stuff on the blog now. Besides I’d much rather tell you that you’re political convictions are wrong to your face. I definitely didn’t knock it off here though we’ve got months to go until the election.
In New Persons News May welcomed MiniNate, oops I mean, Ezekiel Feathers to the world. We saw the beginning of the end for my truck and another flood at my parents house. I also started talking to myself.
“You still do that Josh.”
I know. I better stop now and talk about. . .
June
A bit of a dry month writing wise. I went on my first business trip, to Florida - stirring up memories of a road trip with Jeff, all at the same time our family was spread over the better part of North America. I did find a cool game to waste a little time on while somebody’s website ate up all their bandwidth. (If this is a problem for you, let me know. We can help.)
July
A relatively big month started off with a stank and ended up with Grandma Smith kickin’ the bucket. I laugh as I write this because I know you’re probably thinking “What kind of jerk jokes about his grandma dying?” Well now you know. . . I’m that kind of jerk! She’s much better off and I was much more respectful back then. I’m sure she doesn’t mind. Otherwise, I’m sure I’ll get an earful when I get to heaven.
I also tore the porch off my house, discovered audio blogging and gorilla bars. Sgt. Bart Groin of the Pain Platoon would be so proud.
August
Another month thin on entries. I did manage to pick on Ben for not blogging and celebrated my 3 year wedding anniversary.
September
Despite the lack of posts I did manage to pray a woman into labor. God loves me. This month I found a new favorite movie and wrote about my vacation in the end of August, one of the best vacations of my adult life. In September I actually did vote for John Kerry, before I voted against him. Oh, what a great line. Still makes me laugh whenever I wear my Glenn Beck t-shirt that I got for my birthday the day before. . .
October…
was the month that I worried I might become extinct. I also got really involved politically. I’ll admit it, I had a few rants and raves. We saw President Bush when he came to Cuyahoga Falls. I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of meeting a President of the United States, and pick his nose.

I also had the privilege of meeting everybody’s favorite runner-up in last years presidential election, Mr. Herman Munster himself… John Kerry.

John’s asking if his doctor could botox his face so his eyebrows reach the same altitude as mine.
Unfortunately the month ended up with me being added to the list of endangered species. Hopefully things will get better in. . .
November
I voted (twice), my guy won - I’ll gloat later. I needed a refill on my allergy prescription and I needed to see the Doc to write it up. Best part of that, I managed to get out of the doctors office in just over 60 minutes.
December
I celebrated a political victory and Wesson passed the torch to Ferguson. A Big red bully. This month also saw the first contest on this blog. I admit it. It was a little arrogant to think that people would make an ornament of ME but hey, people got rewarded for it in. . .
January
The Christmas Craft contest entries were reviewed and most of the items made their way to the winners. We saw what Ikea part#100362 was thinking. I went deep undercover on Operation: Frööglėbėrry!
February
I Underwooded my iPod, got annoyed by Monday and was a bit freaked out by that cat. Despite the uproar I - Josh Smith, managed to win the Slam Dunk contest and we met a few people named Smith that I’m not related to. What cracks me up is the fact that because I write the words “Josh Smith Slam Dunk Contest” and “Video” people will end up reading this blog. Seriously - triple click on the little paw print in the right hand sidebar and you’ll see the statistics of who’s visited this blog and how they got here. Click on the links and you’ll either see 1. What they searched for that brought them here or 2. The page that linked to me. All this linking around gets us right back to. . .
March: this month (just in case you don’t know what month it is)
So far all I’ve dealt with is gay fortune cookies and missing out on millions. Ehh, that’s life. Also, Ben did manage to actually post another something to his blog, making fun of me and my wife. What a nice guy.
Anticipation. . .
So what’s in store for the next big year. Let me tell you - a lot! We’ve got some great things happening at Gitgan. We’re becoming a fully fledged business entity, a lot of changes in the way things look around here. I’ve actually finished a lot of the content for my site. In the near future we will make the move to Mac a reality and some pretty awesome contests. That’s right, more cool prizes - this time no family members are allowed to win. Keep an eye out for it sometime in the near future.
To those of you who’ve been with me from the beginning of this thing - I thank you. Your feedback and comments are “truly wonderful.” If you’re just joining us you better step to clicking those archives - you’ve got a lot of catching up to do. And to all your companies, upon whose time and dollar you’ve been reading this - I thank you also. I’m sure they’re working real hard when they’re not tooling around on the net. Really.
So raise a glass of whatever you’re drinkin’ to a year, may there be many more. Gitgan!!
