I probably will buy movies seeing as how Apple has completed the loop for me. In my post I mentioned not having a good way to get video from my computer to my TV, iTV adresses that and pretty seamlessly at that. Now I just need a machine big enough to store movies on. Maybe a MacPro with 3 Terabytes of hard drive space. All these announcements leave me wondering a few things: <ul> <li>Will the iTV have a hookup for a direct link with an iPod, something like a tape deck that you slide the iPod into it or will it be able to connect to a dock?</li> <li>If not, will the next generation of iPod's have <abbr title="Wireless Fidelity">WiFi</abbr>?</li> <li>If they have <abbr title="Wireless Fidelity">WiFi</abbr> how will that affect battery life?</li> <li>Will you only be able to play movies from your <i>own</i> iTunes Library or can you connect a friend's / uncle's iPod and view the stored content?</li> </ul> I've got lots of questions and plenty of time to figure it all out. Now I just need to get the money, the High Definition widescreen television, surround sound and a house with a room that can accomodate it. Thankfully I've got plenty of time to figure that all out too. Oh and not to be a total geek but the only internet voodoo I know is <a href="http://www.funsilly.com/voodoo.html" title="Internet Voodoo Doll" rel="nofollow">here</a>. The unit will cost around 300 US Dollars and is expected to be out shortly after Christmas 2k6 (why should only Y2K get the K . . . oh and i think we should also say "Twenty Ott Six", classy) Josh, I am going to go ahead and call your bluff on this one. You seem like just the kind of sucker Apple is aiming for. Picture this. Two years from now (enter dreamy harp sounds) . . . You are at home watching the kids, Kirsten is out enjoying Frappuccino or whatever it is she does when she is out and the kids start talking about the new Pixar movie that just came out on DVD (they're savvy young children surrounded by messages of capitalistic glory). And you, being the ever so cool father decide that you will make it possible for them to see said movie at home tonight. I present to you your options, 1) Pack the kids up in the minivan and go to what Uncle Ben refers to as Satan's armpit and fight through the mindless zombies walking the video section aisle to pick up the DVD, just to wait in line behind the guy trying to buy this years dear hunting pass and two packages of smokeless tobacco with no proof of age or citizenship. Not to mention Wal-Mart charges probably around $15-17 for a new release. 2) Pack the kids up in the minivan and travel over to the local video rental store to pick up the video, just to find no copies on the shelf. You walk over to the return section and find one copy. You hand it to the acshier only to find out that late fee from "Sweet Home Alabama" has accumulated interest and is now up to $15. 3) Open the laptop, open iTunes, locate said movie, download. For some reason, I just don't see you ignoring such innovative technology. Why? Cause your a computer geek.
