Five (or more) Visual Christmas Annoyances

Jon posted his Five Aural Christmas Annoyances and I thought I could add five that affect my senses in a different way.

  1. The Kay Jewelers commercial where Santa takes a break from letting the little brats sit on his lap at the mall and wanders over to the jewelry store. He asks to see a necklace or something, later he gives it to Mrs. Clause, she exclaims “Oh Kris, how did you know?.” Santa gives a wink. I’m pretty sure they’ve been running this commercial for the last 5 years. I think it’s time for something new.
  2. Happy Honda Days, gee how witty. Get it Honda Days, like Holidays. It’s excruciatingly annoying and obnoxiously politically correct! Read the rest of this entry »

Graphics spelling bee

Tuesday afternoon, we were talking about Thanksgiving plans and the conversation moved to pets. Someone said something about how when their dog gets nervous it has a spontaneous evacuation of its bowels. She said that her dog “shoots out little turds”. This is a word I’ve always been fond of so I wrote it on our dry erase board. My co-worker thought it was spelled with an ‘e’ - I said no. She didn’t believe me so I told her to look it up on dictionary.com. She tried but had a freudian search and ended up on this page. Just so she can’t escape it I did a quick screen capture of her search.

If you’re the type of persoon that thinks “I need to stick a couple of tennis balls on granny’s walker but it’s so much work to cut them” I point you to PreCutTennisBalls.com. Proving once again that you can find just about anything on the internet,

The Right to Vote

Voting was a bit different this time around, with bigger ’scantron’ type ballots and self-service vote scanners things moved a little bit slower than last time. Add in the fact that you had to pick your “I voted” sticker - the lines got a little long.

Paper the town, or your screen

I enjoy desktop photos (or wallpapers for you pc users) and recently I’ve been trying to keep nothing on my desktop just to keep things nice and clean. As a result, I’ve been able to enjoy my desktop even more.  Helping me do that is a nice little app called Spirited Away, it hides any inactive window after 180 seconds.  (You can choose a longer or shorter time and exclude any application from being hidden.)  Also, and this is for mac users only, you can choose to turn off the visibility of your hard disks, connected servers, ect. to keep your desktop clutter-free.  Jeremy posted his so I thought I’d let you see some of my favorite desktops in my flickr desktop set.
