I have a buddy that is purchasing his first Mac this weekend and it got me thinking about the kinds of applications that I recommend should be on his machine in order to have a smooth switch and get the most out of his new Mac. Here are a few apps that always find a home on every Macintosh I work on:

I know with 300 New Features! I ought to be excited about something, right? Sure some of the features seem like they’ll be useful and by the time 10.6 rolls around I’m sure I’ll have found things that I wouldn’t want to give up, but right now I’m pretty happy with Tiger. It’ll be interesting to see what I think of Leopard in the next…
