“my God is so big…
so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do, for you!” i overheard wilbur proudly proclaiming yesterday as i was washing dishes. “i know that song”, i thought, “i bet i haven’t heard it in about 30 years.” turns out little 3 year old wilbur sings this song with his Sunday school teacher mrs. z. and guess what, mrs. z was my Sunday school teacher when i was 3! oh what joy!
amelia, a bit bothered by wilbur and i sharing in the joint knowledge of this song quickly proclaimed that her birth mother taught her this song when she was 1. i told her i wasn’t sure if this was true and that if it wasn’t, it was okay that she didn’t know the song and that wilbur and i did. i told her we could teach it to her and then we would all know it together.
after she and josh came home from church last night she told me she made up a new song about Jesus. “my Jesus is big, He’s strong and He’s mighty, there’s nothing my Jesus won’t do, for you.” “see”, she said, “it’s like the song you and wilbur sing, only it says Jesus instead of God.”
how am i so deserving of these little ones?!? and that they already have such an awareness of our Savior. thank you Lord!

amelia: wilbur, when i get big, i am going to drive you to school. and to church. and to speech. (she is in speech and thinks when her brothers turn 5, they’ll go to speech too.)
wilbur: i not want you to drive me.
amelia: well, mommy says i can, when i get bigger.
wilbur: well, if you keep drivin’ me and i not want you to, i going to jump out of the van.

and because i want it documented for future reference, i just have to share another wilbur prayer.
“dear Jesus, thank You for this day. thank You for my nose. thank You for my boogers. thank You for clifford the big red dog. in Jesus name, Amen.”

Happy Easter! He is risen!
at the start, He was there, He was there
in the end, He’ll be there, He’ll be there
and after all, our hands have wrought, He forgives
oh the glory of it all, is He came here
for the rescue of us all, that we may live
for the glory of it all, for the glory of it all
all is lost, find Him there, find Him there
after night, dawn is there, dawn is there
after all, falls apart, He repairs, He repairs
oh the glory of it all, is He came here
for the rescue of us all, that we may live
for the glory of it all, oh He is here
for redemption from the fall, that we may live
for the glory of it all, oh the glory of it all
the glory of it all, oh the glory of it all
after night, comes a light, dawn is here, dawn is here
it’s a new day, it’s a new day
everything will change
things will never be the same
we will never be the same
oh the glory of it all, is You came here
for the rescue of us all, that we may live
for the glory of it all, oh You are here
with redemption for us all, that we may live
for the glory of it all, oh the glory of it all
the glory of it all, oh the glory of it all
everything will change
things will never be the same
we will never be the same

amelia, 5, puts her babydoll down for a nap. orville, 2, gets the babydoll up from her nap. amelia yells, loudly, at orville to put the baby down. she yells multiple times. orville begins to cry. mom steps in. the babydoll is amelia’s so mom tells orville to leave the baby alone. orville cries more. mom walks away. amelia tells orville it’s okay and he can go ahead and play with the baby. mom tells amelia she has to put the babydoll away. she can’t yell no at orville, make him cry, and then tell him it’s okay to go ahead and do what she was just yelling at him about.
what would you do?
Filed under children | Comments (3)prayer time
every night we pray together as a family before we put the kids to bed. we each take a turn, starting usually with amelia. here’s her prayer from tonight.
“Jesus, thank you for this day. thank you that we got to go to the zoo yesterday(we really went thursday). thank you for mommy, daddy, wilbur, orville, and shelby. thank you for our fun house. thank you for our fun family.” she thinks we’re fun! how great is that!!
and here’s wilbur’s. where is this kid coming from?
“Jesus, thank you for my curtains. and my bed. and orville’s bed. and amen. vroom.”
to which i replied, “you need to just say amen. you don’t need to add the vroom at the end.”
good night.
